steve, when you play a groove you're pretty light on the hihat. have you thought about laying into it a bit more to get a phatter sound?

i really like where you place your flams. overall the drums and bass sound really great. i'm not a big fan of the guitar player. thanks for the vid.

Yeah very cool, looks like you had a good time in the studio. That track you were all listening to on playback for a while sounded deadly. You make it look effortless, and those sticks look super light with the way you are whipping them around! I want to hear this disc for sure.

Shedder, I hadn't given it much thought. It could be the mix, but I will definitely reconsider where the hat is overall voume wise.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">From an outside (inside) perspective, Steve's hat's, in my opinion, are the cause. They don't give off a lot of thickness due to being an older pair of "new beats" (I think). He clearly has the power and cleanliness to pull off powerful notes and to be heard. I've played his hats a million times and have the same complaint. They sound amazing for pulling out doubles and fast stickings but phattness is lost. Maybe a set of Z?s [img]smile.gif[/img] hee hee.

Actually the top hat is a newer K with the old New Beat Bottom. The K sounds thinner and I wish I would have used the trusty New Beat top (got em in the mid 80's) [img]wink.gif[/img]
